COWTHORPE LIFE
THE VILLAGE
Cowthorpe has a unique feel to it. At first it seems "sleepy" as it has few facilities, but the residents ensure that there is a strong community feel. People are friendly without being nosy.
The Village is rightly proud of its church St Michael and All Angels and teams of volunteers help to keep it clean, arrange flowers and cut the grass and hedges. There are even more ambitious plans for the church which became redundant in 1975.
Where once the pub, formerly known as Ye Olde Oake Inn, stood, now there are houses. Whilst one facility died, new homes brought young families into the village, the life blood of any community. It's a testament to the friendly and safe nature of Cowthorpe that the majority of those new families who arrived in 1998 are still here.
